About The Event
The worst economic burden of the COVID-19 pandemic has been felt by women.
The consequences of the pandemic have further increased gender inequality in the workplace, eroding decades of union campaigns and worsening the gender pay gap.
When the Coalition Government talks about recovery they wear hard hats and high vis and the focus is on jobs for the boys.
We know that doesn’t cut it.
Not only does it fail to address the gendered impacts of the pandemic, it ignores that those industries that are set to grow exponentially in coming years are highly feminised industries in the caring economy.
Come along to hear from Federal Shadow Minister for Women Tanya Plibersek, NSW Shadow Minister for Women Jodie Harrison, ASU NSW/ACT Secretary Natalie Lang and Home Care worker Teresa Hetherington on how we ensure a gender equal recovery. The discussion will be facilitated by Jananie Janarthana from Sydney Policy Lab.
