The bill would threaten the jobs of teachers and support staff that sought to support LGBTIQ+ students. It also requires schools to present discredited counter narratives when teaching classes like science or history, such as teaching anti-vaccination theories when teaching about immunisation, and legitimising holocaust denial in studies of World War II.
Latham has squarely attacked the Teachers Federation and accused it of ‘radical ideology’ and said his concerns include the teaching of ‘refugee policy, climate change, colonization and gender fluidity.’
